I've just watched the first two episodes of a comedy on BBC3 called Summer Heights High. You just have to give it a try; it's one of the funniest things I've seen this year. It's an Australian "mockumentary" set in a high school, but the characters are so wittily observed. I especially like Jonah, the 13 year old swearing hard nut with a reading age of 8. Most schools have at least one Jonah, even if theirs isn't from Tonga.
Try to catch it if you can!

Superb stuff. I found it quite painful to watch the scenes where Jonah baits the english teacher.
I found it even more painful after watching the two episodes to realise that Jonah's also probably the nicest one out of the three main characters.

I recently visited Australia where a friend introduced me to Summer Heights High. I actually had tears rolling down my face while watching it - I have seen all of the main 3 characters while teaching and, as you say, Jonah appears everywhere!
As a non-teacher, I'm glad to find that many teachers enjoy this wonderful series.
Maybe it should be shown on Teachers TV for some light relief?

I'm still really enjoying this, and Jonah is my favourite character! It's just so well observed. His mainstream English teacher is like any other inexperienced teacher who flips out over soemthing insignificant and blames the most obvious student, even if it wasn't his fault. And the remedial English teacher is the most understanding, though I think she's going to be shown to be too soft next week...
